Races & running events
Registering for a race is a great way to challenge yourself. Whether you are a seasoned runner or trying a race for the first time, why not fundraise for Dublin Rape Crisis Centre and support survivors of sexual violence with every step. We will send you a free t-shirt to welcome you into the DRCC Race Team!
Some of the well-know events you could take part in include: Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon in June and the Irish Life Dublin City Marathon in October.
Here is a step-by-step guide of how to get your fundraising started.
- Enter your chosen event by following the steps directly on the race day website (list of some Dublin races below). This will secure your place in your chosen event and the organisers will send you race confirmation and information directly.
- Set yourself a fundraising goal. Decide how much you would like to raise and use this to keep you motivated as you approach race day. We do not set a minimum target – we just ask that you raise as much as you can!
- Set up a fundraising page. This is a great way to tell your friends, family and/or colleagues about the challenge you are taking on, as well as why Dublin Rape Crisis Centre is a charity you care about. You can link to our pages on iDonate and EventMaster, which both provide safe, secure and easy ways for people to support you. Choose “Start Fundraising” on either site to set up your own page.
- Tell everyone you know! And then tell them again. People are busy; remind them about your challenge and make it easy for them to support you by sharing your fundraising page. Provide updates each time you go out training and as you edge nearer to race day.
- Tell us! Email fundraising@rcc.ie to tell us which race you are taking part in – we will send you a Dublin Rape Crisis Centre t-shirt to train and race in!
- Can you double it? Ask at work to see if your company offers matched funding – where they match every €1 you raise yourself.
- Have fun! You’ve done all your training and you’ve raised money to support survivors of sexual violence. It is time to enjoy race day, running every step with pride of what you have achieved. Don’t forget to wear your DRCC t-shirt!
