DRCC’s response to the PFAI article regarding convicted rapist Ched Evans

The DRCC welcomes that the PFAI has taken down what we believe to be a seriously ill judged blog by their solicitor Stuart Gilhooly in relation to the Ched Evans’ situation. Alleged is a term preserved for the presumption of innocence before a trial which every accused person is entitled to but it is inappropriate to use it in a case where there has been a conviction. Rape is the absence of consent and when a person is intoxicated to the extent that they cannot give consent having sex with that person is rape.  It’s the law.
