DRCC asks You to Vote for Ireland’s Future
25 February 2016
#VOTE for Ireland’s Future
Joint call by Equality, Youth, Human Rights and Trade Union campaigners
‘Turnout is key if we want an Equal Ireland For All’
Voters are being encouraged to turn out in force in the General Election to have their say in Ireland’s future course in what campaigners from a coalition of equality and human rights groups are calling ‘The most important poll in a generation’.
In a joint statement issued in front of Leinster House the groups said:
“The Right to Vote is fundamental in a democracy and one which is too often taken for granted. As groups who believe in an equal Ireland for all we are calling on everyone entitled to vote to do so and make their voice heard.
Ireland is at a crossroads with important decisions to be taken in the coming months and years, this is the opportunity to make sure your views are represented. In particular we appeal to young people, women and new citizens who have been under-represented in Irish politics to come out and vote!”
