Press Release: Dublin Rape Crisis Centre – Louise O’Keeffe
28 January 2014
The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre welcomes the decision of the Court of Human Rights in the Louise O’Keeffe case.
Ellen O’Malley-Dunlop, CEO of the DRCC said: “Louise O’Keeffe has come to the end of her long road for justice. Thankfully she received that justice this morning when the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruled in her favour after a 30 year campaign which brought her from the highest court in the land to the ECHR in Strasbourg.
She has shown tremendous courage and dedication and her success will have far reaching positive effects for child protection in Ireland.
On behalf of all the victims of sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse in particular, who avail of the services of Rape Crisis Centres we salute Louise O’Keeffe on this historic day and we thank her for the service she has done for all of society.”
