Submission to the Director of Public Prosecutions on Prosecution Policy on the Giving of Reasons for Decisions,

In this submission, we make recommendations for the reform of one of the procedural mechanisms used to control the prosecution process, namely the present policy of the the Director of Public Prosecutions (“the DPP”) not to give reasons for decisions to bring or maintain a prosecution prior to the institution of criminal proceedings.
