Video: Overview of research into attitudes on sexual violence in Ireland

11 April 2025

Dublin Rape Crisis Centre has published research on attitudes to sexual violence among people in Ireland - this video presents some of the main findings.

Conducted by Ipsos B&A in February 2025, this research reveals:

  • Widespread concern about the prevalence of sexual violence
  • High prevalence of sexual assault
  • Significant barriers for victims in reporting and seeking support

But alongside this concern, the research also uncovers a disconnect—particularly among younger men, but present across all age groups—where mistrust and victim-blaming attitudes persist.
