Who is this training for?
This training programme is for those who meet disclosures in a professional capacity and have not done training of this type before.
What is the aim of this training?
This training aims to:
- Build understanding of different forms of sexual violence, its prevalence, and its impact
- Support staff in managing disclosures of sexual violence sensitively and effectively
- Describe the immediate and long-term effects of sexual violence
- Explore ways to address the particular needs of victims/survivors
- Promote self-care strategies and build resilience amongst those working with traumas like sexual violence
Methodology
The training approach is participative. Methods used include group discussion, lecture, case studies, and videos. There is a strong theme throughout of the importance of developing resourcing strategies for the worker, and the prevention of vicarious traumatisation and burnout.
The training approach is invitational, with the sensitive nature of the issues being covered and the fact that they may resonate for participants acknowledged. Participation is encouraged but without pressure.

Tea/Coffee will be provided at 11 am break. Lunch will be from 1 - 2 pm and will not be provided, but there are many dining options on Augnier St.
